Saving, Copying and Restoring
Save a look per environment, try it in sandbox, copy it to production, and bring back the one before
Sandbox and production each have their own look. The usual route is to try a look in sandbox, then copy it to production without redoing it. Production stays editable directly too.
Save
The Editing switch chooses the environment. Save to sandbox (or Save to production, with Ctrl or Cmd + S) saves the whole look as the environment's next version. The line under the studio's heading shows where it stands: "Version 3, saved" with the time, or "Phoenix's look, never changed". Each environment keeps every version, so a save never overwrites history.
Players see a saved look on their next load, within about a minute.
If someone else saved a newer look for that environment while you were editing, your save is refused: a banner says Someone saved a newer sandbox look while you were editing, and your changes stay in the studio, not saved. Choose Load their look to replace your draft with theirs (Undo brings yours back), or Keep mine on top of theirs to keep your changes and save them over their version.
Compare Sandbox and Production
A line at the top says Production matches sandbox, or Production differs from sandbox in the settings that differ, for example "logo, font and brand color". It is worked out from the two looks every time you open the page.
Copy Sandbox to Production
Copy sandbox look to production puts the saved sandbox look on production. It opens a confirm that lists every setting that differs, with Production now beside From sandbox, so you review exactly what changes. Confirm with Copy to production.
- Only the look is copied. Production keeps its own wallet, keys, sites that embed it, currencies and limits.
- The copy is of the sandbox version shown in the confirm. If sandbox is saved again before you confirm, the copy is refused ("Sandbox changed since this was shown: it is at version N now") and you review the differences again.
- The button waits while you have unsaved changes ("Save or reset your changes first: a copy takes the saved sandbox look"), and while production already matches sandbox.
- Production players see the copied look on their next load, within about a minute. The toast that follows has an Undo.
Restore the Previous Look
The Restore menu brings back the look an environment had before its last change: Restore previous sandbox look or Restore previous production look. The confirm lists what changes, Production now beside Comes back. The previous version comes back as a new version, so history stays whole.
- Restoring twice in a row swaps the two back.
- Before an environment's first save, the previous look is Phoenix's own look, so restoring a first save returns to it.
- The menu entry waits while you have unsaved changes, and is unavailable for an environment that has never changed.
Restore is the way back from a copy or a save you regret: it is one step, whoever made the change.
