Resolution Guide
Resolve markets with clear evidence and fewer disputes
Resolution is the moment Phoenix turns open player positions into final wallet settlement. Operators should treat it as a controlled workflow, not a casual button click.
Resolution Principles
Use these rules when deciding an outcome:
- Resolve exactly according to the market wording.
- Use the named source of truth, not a more convenient source.
- Prefer final results over live or unofficial results.
- Keep evidence for support and audit.
- Void only when the market cannot fairly resolve under its original rule.
Manual Resolution Checklist
Before resolving manually:
- Confirm the market is the correct market.
- Read the full title, description, and resolution rule.
- Confirm the valid outcome IDs.
- Verify the result from the stated source.
- Save evidence or a reference URL.
- Check whether any void condition applies.
- Resolve with the chosen outcome.
- Confirm settlement status begins updating.
Evidence
Good evidence answers: "Why did this market settle this way?"
Examples:
- Official event result URL
- Price feed timestamp and value
- Sports provider fixture result
- Operator review note for manual markets
- Screenshot or archived evidence when public pages change over time
When to Close First
Close a market before resolution when new bets should stop but the final outcome is not yet known.
Examples:
- Event has started
- Data source is temporarily delayed
- Market wording needs review
- External event is in progress but not final
When to Void
Void only when settlement would be unfair or impossible under the published rule.
Examples:
- Event was cancelled or abandoned.
- The named data source cannot provide a final result.
- The market wording is materially ambiguous.
- The listed outcomes do not cover the actual result.
Voiding refunds positions through wallet settlement. Operators should be prepared to explain the reason to players.
