Your Events and Results

Write your own events, run them from the event page, enter results, hold, void, and suspend your book on platform events

Your events are the ones your team writes. Only your players see them, and your team enters their results. On platform events, which Phoenix writes and settles, your lever is your book: you can suspend trading for your players.

"Your book" is your operator's own trading on a market: its prices, orders and positions. Suspending it stops trading for your players only; it does not touch other operators or the event itself.

What a person can do also depends on their role: Content and Admin staff do everything on this page. See Staff and Roles.

Create an Event

Open Events and choose New event. The first thing on the page is the Owner line: your operator's name and "(your event, only your players see it)". For your staff it is a fixed line, not a choice. Under it you pick a template:

  • Yes/No question (the default): one or more Yes/No markets.
  • Head-to-head: two sides, such as two teams or two fighters.

Under the template is the language bar, which names the language the event is written in and each of your other languages (see Languages and Translations).

Fill in:

  • The event: Category (see the picker below), Place (required), Event title, and optionally a description and an image (up to 2 MB).
  • Times and source, once for the event: the Resolution source (a link to the page that will show the result), when Trading closes, when the Outcome known (the first moment the result could be public: an announcement, a data release, polls closing or the final whistle) and when the Result expected. Trading must close before the outcome is known, and the result is expected then or later; the back office refuses times in any other order. Any market can override them.
  • Markets: up to 20 per event, counting any you add later, each with its Question, its Rules, an Opening price (5% to 95%, 50% by default) and two different outcome names (Yes and No unless you rename them). An image is recommended, not required. Every market you write needs its Rules, a source link, a close time in the future and an outcome time after it; a market without them is refused, and so is an edit that takes the rules or the source away.
  • One winner: for two or more markets of which at most one can resolve Yes (for example "Who wins the league?" with one market per team). You choose it while the event is a draft, and you say whether its outcomes cover every result: One of these always wins (the list has a "Field" or "Any other team" outcome, or ranges that cover every number) or None of these may win (the real winner may be one you did not list). Both are fixed once the event is published, and the back office refuses to change them after that. Phoenix prices the outcomes as one set, so their Yes prices add up to 100%; when none of them may win, the event also shows a "None of these" line so the prices still add up. A market you add to a One winner event joins its set, but only before the first bet: from then on the outcomes of the event are fixed and the back office refuses to add one. A Yes result on one outcome resolves every other open outcome No in the same step, and an event that always has a winner refuses a result that would leave every outcome No: resolve the winner, or void the event.

The checklist beside the form ticks off each required item; until all are done, the Publish button names the first thing to fix, for example "Set the close time" or "Choose where the event is about". Save draft and Publish both need every required item.

  • Save draft keeps it private: only your team and Phoenix see a draft.
  • Publish publishes every market of the event together, after a confirmation: a published market never goes back to draft, and its rules never change. The confirmation has a Languages line for each language, such as "Swahili: 6 of 8 served, 2 waiting for approval. Acme players read those in English until a speaker approves them."

Languages never block either button. The checklist lists each language as optional, and an event with texts that are not translated yet publishes as it is: players read the original for them.

Choose a Category

One picker replaces the separate category and facet selects. When it is closed, it reads like the result, for example "Sports · Type Champion". Open it to see a search box ("Search categories and their values, e.g. Soccer") and two columns:

  • On the left, the categories, in the order your players see them (the order you set in Curation).
  • On the right, the groups of the category you are on, such as "Sport" and "Type", with their values as chips. Pick one value in a group, or none. Groups are named as Curation names them.

The search finds categories and values together: typing "soccer" offers Sports > Sport > Soccer. Press Done to close the picker.

A category your storefront hides carries a Hidden tag. If you pick it, a warning appears under the field: "Acme's storefront hides Trump Watch, so your players won't see this event until you switch the category on in Curation." Place stays its own field beside the category.

After Publishing

  • Question, rules, source and outcomes are fixed at publishing. Write the rules as the final word.
  • A One winner event's list of outcomes is fixed at its first bet: no market can be added after it.
  • Title and image can change until the first order or position on any of the event's markets; after that they are locked.
  • Translations never lock. You can write, change and approve a translation at any time, even after trading has started; the Timeline records it.
  • Description, subtitle, category, place and start time stay editable.
  • Add market adds a new market as a draft, while a market of the event is still open. It needs the same as any market you write (rules, a source link, a future close and an outcome time after it), and an event that already holds 20 markets takes no more.
  • Reschedule moves a market's times (closes, outcome known and result expected), with a reason, while it is open. A market written before the outcome time existed shows Outcome time not stated in the Markets list; state it with its first reschedule, because until then trading may stay open after the result is public.
  • Archive (in the event's menu) takes a finished event out of every list and every player feed, and unfeatures it. Only an event with no live market can be archived; Restore brings it back.

The Event Page

The header holds the title, subtitle, description and one line of facts: Category, Place, Starts, Closes, Result expected, Owner. The star beside the title features the event for your players. If Curation hides the event, a line says why, with a link to Curation.

The language bar sits under that line. Pick a language and the page shows the event as players of that language read it. A text with no approved translation shows in the language the event is written in, with a small grey mark.

Below, Markets lists each market with its status, Trades lists what players did, and Timeline records every change with who made it and why, translation work included. Cards on the side show the Liabilities (what each outcome would pay your players), the Rules, the event's Languages (each language's progress, with Review, Translate missing and Preview), and its ids. See Languages and Translations.

On your own events, the header offers the actions the state allows: Publish, Enter result, Release hold, Hold, Close now and Void, and Reschedule when only one market can still be rescheduled. Hold, Close now and Void act on every eligible market at once; a market's own menu acts on that market alone, Reschedule included.

Enter a Result

When trading closes, the market waits in your Queue under Coming up until its result is due within 3 hours, then moves to Your results. You can enter the result as soon as the market is closed. To enter a result you give:

  • The outcome that won.
  • Evidence: a public http or https link to the page that shows the result.
  • A reason from the list: Official result, or Other with a note.

The evidence link and the reason are required for everyone, Phoenix staff included. A result is final: the market shows Settled, and payouts are sent to your players' wallets (on the Events list the event shows Settling until every payout is paid). See the Resolution Guide and Settlement.

If your team is not available, Phoenix can enter the result for your event. The Timeline shows who did it and when.

Hold, Release, Close and Void

ActionUse whenAsks for
HoldThe result is unclear for now. Trading stops and no result can be entered until you release itA reason: Postponed, Interrupted, Abandoned, Result withdrawn, or Under review (with a note). Optionally a Review by date
Release holdThe situation is clear again. The market returns to where it was (open or closed)An optional note
Close nowTrading must stop early, for goodA reason: Started early, Information leaked, Integrity concern, or Other with a note. A closed market never reopens
VoidThe market cannot be settled fairlyA reason (Postponed beyond window, Abandoned, Fixture cancelled, Incorrect market setup, Rules ambiguity, Duplicate market, or Other with a note), an evidence link, and a Basis: Stakes refunded (the default: each player gets back what they paid) or Settled 50/50 (every share pays half)

A hold you set never voids by itself, whatever its reason; it waits for your team to release it (then enter the result once the market is closed) or void it.

Suspend or Resume Your Book

On a platform event, open the event page and choose Suspend your book on a market. While your book is suspended, your players see the market greyed out and their orders are refused with "trading is paused". Their positions and the market's settlement are not affected. Choose Resume your book to reopen it.

Give a reason when you suspend: Price problem, News, Integrity, or Other with a note. The Timeline records who suspended it, when, and why.

You can suspend your book on any published market that has not closed, including before your players' first order. A book with no orders yet shows as open, with no trades. Suspending it first keeps the market from your players until you resume. To keep a whole event from your players instead, hide it in Curation (this hides every market of the event).

Voiding your book on a platform market is not available to operators. If a platform market should be cancelled, tell Phoenix.
